HydroCo join Portsmouth Water Team for 2014 WaterAid Water Cycle Challenge
Staff from twelve of the UK's water companies competed in the 2014 inaugural WaterAid Water Cycle Challenge and are hoping to raise an incredible 10000 for WaterAids work in the world's poorest communities.
Teams from Wessex, United Utilities, Anglian, Affinity, Severn Trent, Portsmouth, Dwr Cymru, Sutton and East Surrey, and Yorkshire Water all took on the impressive 76 mile route, which covered part of the Tour de France circuit near Leeds. HydroCo director, Andrew Franklin joined Portsmouth Water's team of cyclists who finished 11th overall in the team ranking, with Andy finishing 47th overall out of a field of 84 riders.
However, it was staff from Thames, Northumbrian and Southern Water who emerged victorious, receiving awards from Yorkshire Water's Chief Executive Richard Flint. The Water Cycle Challenge will continue next year, when cup-holders Thames will host the event. Final Result from the event can be viewed here:

HydroCo Support Clean Water Modelling Advisory Group
The Clean Water Modelling Advisory Group (CwMAG) was conceived in 2011 with the core aim of creating an independent forum for water network modellers. A similar group for wastewater modelling had already been operating for over 20 years and has brought considerable benefits to this specialist sector within the water industry. Drawing inspiration from WaPUGs success, CwMAG was formed by a mixture of water company personnel and water industry consultants.
HydroCo have been involved with the group since its creation and play an active role on the CwMAG committee. Adrian Watkins, Engineering Director at HydroCo sits on the committee as communications officer, supporting the group with their publicity and marketing. The CwMAG website has been designed and hosted by HydroCo to act as a focal point when communicating with our members. A quarterly newsletter is also produced to keep our members informed of the latest issues facing the group.
If you have a vested interest in clean water modelling and are not already a member of CwMAG, why not visit our website and find out more about our group?

HydroCo supports WaterAid 200 Event
On Friday 15 June 2012 two teams of intrepid explorers from the South gathered at Portsmouth Water to begin their voyage of discovery up North. They were part of a big event organised by WaterAid, which aimed to place teams of walkers on top of 200 mountain peaks across England, Wales and Scotland. Our goal was to conquer Kinder Scout in the Peak District
Our two teams comprised of staff from Portsmouth Water - Steve Youell, Mark Mills, Leslie Stewart, Southern Water Richard Price, Shelley Williams, Maciej Pawlisz, South East Water Paul Holton, Micheala James, HydroCo Dave Acres, and Primayer Lucy Johnson.
And the good news is, that the toil and personal sacrifices made by all those in the team really paid off because thanks to all the generous donations we raised over 2700 for WaterAid. The full story of the expedition can be read in the article below.
